I had not had fish and chips in.....well....years and so this was a good day to say; 'Why not?! '<br/ <br/ This was mid-afternoon so it was obviously very quiet which is just what I like. The decor of this restaurant was lovely and we were immediately invited to sit wherever we wanted. We had an opportunity to try out the clam chowder as well as the classic fish and chips. The chowder was as flavorful as you would expect it to be. The haddock came to the table pipping hot from the hot oil. I 'm hungry right now just reliving this. What was a nice surprise were the fries/chips that you see on the pic attached. They were not burned which is always a pet-peeve in this part of the world. I didn 't find them greasy at all.<br/ You could also order snack size for the fish. Obviously the halibut would be a couple of bucks more. They also have tilapia for something different.<br/ This establishment has been around for 42 years and counting and seems to be a local favorite up in Stoufville. People drop by and can even order take-out. Nice little discovery when you just want to go for it.
Go there for take-out...one order is HUGE...so we get the snack size..which is perfect! Friendly staff and you can call ahead and pick up your order.
Not that I condone eating fried foods more than once a month, but if you get a hankering for fish and chips and can't afford a trip to the East coast, this is the place to fulfill your seafood needs. Crisp, fresh, fast and proceed right. Small location but big on quality. Never a bad meal and really nice staff, limited seating but easy parking and right next to a Shoppers drug mart if you need to buy extra wet-napkins.
Small family owned restaurant with good quality food. Fish and chips are excellent - not too greasy! Very casual setting, lots of parking.
My sister and i were driving through and decided to check out this restaurant. Sister did a google review, it sounded good so we decided to go for it.All we can say is "someone must have played a very nasty joke on us. The first taste of the chowder was 'this is canned clams possibly with watered evaporated milk or perhaps 2%milk, brought to a boil"The not cheap halibut was heavily battered, greasy and the very thin halibut was heavy on the salt. I know there was a lot of sodium in the fish as i was extremely dehydrated hours after eating. And i only ate the halibut. I could not bring myself to eat all that greasy batter.Needless to say, with most of the meal left uneaten, we had to find anothet restaurant a couple hours later for supper.Bad, bad, and bad. I have no idea how any restaurant can serve such poor food at market prices.
