The first impression of Il Verbano which we have known for many years after it was taken over by a new chef as we were told a 2 star-Michelin chef was: Wat the F......what happened?? the restaurant has after its take over...by a 2-star Michelin chef turned into a cantina (canteen)...the food is disgusting, the restaurant is ugly, loud and dirty! The presentation of the tables is cheap and shady (nothing as it was) and has nothing to do with a two star Michelin chef/restaurant. The guy is wasting his name for this restaurant. When we asked for the chef, we were finally told that it was only the second restaurant of the chef and that it is not the same as his actual restaurant. That's not what we were told at the booking. They highly praised their new 2 star Michelin chef...well, not to see him, not to see it by the food! The entire staff had no idea about anything, all unfriendly... It was the worst lunch we have had in a long time and this on Easter Sunday. So, our Easter lunch was completely ruined. We will never come back albeit we really liked the place to come with the boat in the summer and all! It's a great loss to the lake but this restaurant is not worth spending an EURO at. You better eat at a canteen or somewhere else rather than this restaurant. We will for sure never come back and miss the old administrator/cook of Il Verbano who was running a wonderful place. For now...don't waste your money at this awful ugly place!!!
Excellent service flawless all delicious place
We have just visited this restaurant on recommendation of our hotel. we (6 of us) celebrated a high-time anniversary and were a little wary to have read some of the reviews, but I really cannot understand why the bad reviews. unless we decided. a particularly excellent evening about eating, wein and service there was really nothing to complain about. between us we had a series of orders in the offer and no one was anything but excellent. believe me, I have eaten in a series of michelin in the star restaurants and the food we had here was as good as anyone with the calf who deserves a special mention. so, if there are no white tablecloths and the waiter ‘outfits’ were modernized, that life after covid had to save both cost and set new standards. my advice, visit them here for a great experience.
Had a wonderful tasty of my daughter when I visited her in turin. this restaurant is beautiful in every sight. the Ravioli starter (oh my) is excellent; the service that wein and the ambiente of the place makes them want to stay forever. the boat trip of stresa is the icing on the cake. I will return.
