This offered us the opportunity to walk around the neighborhood and discover the silence of the forest. The meal was good, tasty, and traditional combined with modern style. The staff was helpful, and the restaurant was very cozy.
Good food, best chanterelle mushrooms with polenta i ever had. The house wine was also good...semi dry white wine.
Stopped here for a hearty Romanian lunch, beer and scrumptious dessert recommended to us by the equally scrumptious waiter. It was a kind of pancake with cheese and a creamy caramel sauce. The trout was done to perfection as was the pork, good local beers too. Great stop.
Our lunch was amazing. We each ordered the specialty mushroom dishes gathered from the local forests. One was based on Chanterelles, the other Porcinis. I recommend the cream sauce version of each. We also had the delicious borscht soup to start (also made with local mushrooms). If you love locally-farmed Romanian/Moldavian food, this is THE place.
“Prea bun, prea ca la țară!” Too good…like the country! Stopped here for lunch during our tour of the UNESCO painted monasteries in Bucovina. Can not imagine a better traditional Romanian lunch! Started with a traditional beef “ciorba” (sour soup) followed by diced grilled chicken thighs with potatoes baked and layered with local cheese. Each course was packed with flavor. The pickled vegetables served as a garnish were local for sure and a perfect accompaniment. Dessert: “papanasi” of course! Think twice fried doughnut, light and fluffy, topped with local sour cream, fresh that day, and blueberry preserves. It was “lick the plate” good…and likely the best I’ve had in my four years living in Romania! Would I come back? ABSOLUTELY! A spectacular find off the beaten trail.
