However, there is room for great improvement and potential for it to be a unique place for Sunderland. The phone line was not working, making it difficult for us to pre-order food. The two lovely girls serving us were clearly overworked and stressed; they deserve recognition for their hard work. Unfortunately, a couple of jacket potato orders were missed, leading to an extra half hour wait. Additionally, two sandwiches came out with the wrong fillings and they eventually ran out of bread, meaning no more sandwiches could be ordered. Despite these issues, I would still recommend this restaurant as we need more unique spots in our city. It is important that these issues, including fixing the phone line, are addressed in order to enhance the overall experience.
The service was subpar, even for those on a tight budget. I expected to receive a meal that was home-cooked, but instead, what I got was burnt food thrown at me with a rude smile or sometimes not even arriving after being paid for.
I frequently visit this restaurant with both friends and family, and I would highly recommend it! The food is absolutely delicious and I believe it is all homemade. The portion sizes are generous and there is a specials board to choose from as well. The cakes are beautiful, although we were too full from our meals to have one, we couldn't resist getting a scone. The interior of the tea room is fantastic, with original bar features and Victorian decorations. There is even an option to take a photograph in a Victorian outfit against a lovely backdrop.
Came here for a tea for two and i couldn't fault it. Plenty variety of delicious sandwiches and cake to work through. The waitress couldn't do enough for us and made sure we had an enjoyable afternoon. Prices are very reasonable. Victorian Eve's is worth a pop in to experience a tea shop with a differnce.
On Monday 15th April '19, We decided to try Victorian Eve 's tearoom for a breakfast sandwich drink. First time we 've been in but it was beautiful inside, the decor is amazing the tables were nicely spread apart so there 's plenty of room. We were given the menu decided to try the bacon sausage Sandwiches with a Tea Coffee. The bacon was cooked nice crispy but still soft the hubby commented that the sausage was proper butchers sausage so got the thumbs up from him. Only slight disappointment was, they don 't do decaffeinated tea, which is definitely something I think they should consider. Total bill was £6, excellent value for money, will definitely be going back again to try their lunches. Worth a visit.
