Mama's Empanadas - Sunnyside

When we stopped by, I was quite hungry. The place appears to be a small hole-in-the-wall, but it has an A rating displayed in the window. I'm so glad we decided to go in! The empanadas are made fresh to order, and they were absolutely delicious and generously filled. I tried the sausage and paprika, the pernil, and the cheese steak, and all of them were fantastic. The green sauce is also excellent—bright and full of flavor.

The restaurant may not look particularly striking, but they offer a wide range of empanadas (both baked and fried) in traditional and unique flavors. I was truly impressed by everything I tried, and I definitely plan to return. They also have desserts and vegetarian options, and I was especially taken with the breakfast empanadas. It’s a fantastic option for takeout!

You absolutely must try their cheese empanada! Dip it in the green sauce, and you'll feel like you're in paradise!

Their empanadas are basically without mistakes. You should change oil a bit more frequently, as you sometimes get a touch of the repulsive old oil smell/taste in your warm bag goodness. Also wish that food would come faster, but as they order any Empanada, much faster cannot be expected.

Customer service is good. Empanadas are tasty...especially the desserts ones(caramel and cheese really good). Mozellarepa (not sure if spelled correct) is also good. Not a fan of there yucca fries because they are extremely oily and highly covered in some kind of breadcrumbs which takes away the natural flavor all you taste is tasteless breadcrumbs and oil.
