Well, I've eaten a lot at truck-stops when I drive for 10 years. this place reminds me of it. the food was ok and the service was good. the people are.
I stumbled upon this hidden gem while working at the Valero plant. The food is delicious and reminds me of home-cooked meals, with a cozy small town atmosphere. The service is quick and friendly, and the prices are very affordable.
If you are a cigarette smoker, you will enjoy this restaurant. It is possibly the last one in the poor county that still allows smoking, and sitting at the VIP table will enhance your experience. However, if you are not employed by one of the major local businesses (and cannot go to Dumas for lunch), you are not missing out on anything. Drive 9 miles to Cactus/Etter and try the incredible Mexican food at El Rancho. On Friday nights, Albert's in Dumas is the place to be. Personally, I have no particular loyalty to any of these establishments. Having lived in this city for 10 years, I find this restaurant to be overpriced, lacking in creativity, and the only option if you don't have access to a microwave to heat up food from a local business. Keep in mind that it is closed on weekends.
I have eaten at many truck stops while driving for 10 years, and this restaurant reminds me of those experiences. The food was decent and the service was good. The staff were kind and friendly. While the home-cooked meals were not exactly to my liking, I have visited this restaurant multiple times over the past three years.
