Skookumchuck Bakery & Cafe

We stopped in for a muffin after we finished the hike into the rapids. The muffins were large, they do have cinnamon buns, coffee and other sweet treats. I did see people eating breakfast sandwiches as well.

The staff did not seem happy 2 be there. We were waiting for the cinnamon buns. We were told the were going to be about an hour so we did the walk. When we got back there were 4 left. GREAT . We waited in line, our turn came up and we were told those 4 were reserved. Not in a nice way. We asked when the next batch were going to be ready, the guy blurted out. 3 1/2 hours. If the 4 that were there were reserved, move them out of sight and say we are sold out. That would be understandable or tell us in the beginning that we could reserve. Either way it was not a friendly visit.

The Skookumchuck Bakery is located just 100 metres down the trail leading to the Rapids from the parking lot. The first time we visited that place was on our way back from the Skookumchuck Rapids. A cup of tea and some freshly-baked apple pie with ice cream was exactly what we needed after a two-hour walk. It was very delicious and refreshing. I read a few reviews before we stopped here. The first thing that caught our eye was that the pastries were fresh and warm. The croissants we tried there were arguably better than ones we had tried in a Parisian bakery not very long ago. Returning a second time for breakfast, we bought coffee, tea and croissants. The place was very busy, but the latte was perfect, the service quick and we enjoyed our pleasant meal. Singing birds were a wonderful complimentary bonus.

This is a charming bakery where the baked goodies are absolutely delicious. Try the banana bread and iced latte for a treat.!A very personable and high energy young couple own this place. They choose the best ingredients for all their products. Their young staff are very amenable and efficient.Their seating is limited, as most people take their order to go , but the seats on their deck are very pleasant with a serene treed and gushing stream outlook.

Lovely place. Makes me very happy to see a place that takes pride in what they do and not just the usual "ripoff" at a popular tourist location.
