This restaurant features top-notch charcoal grills that produce incredibly tender, juicy, and flavorful meats. It is without a doubt the best grill spot in Melbourne. The bread served here is also exceptional, unbelievably fresh and delicious. The service is quick, the premises are clean, and the prices are very reasonable. It is one of our favorite places to dine in Melbourne. Disregard the 1-star rating, it is unjustified to rate so low just for a slight wait. We have been here numerous times and never had to wait excessively. And even if we did, the high quality of the food makes it worth the wait! Previously a cash-only establishment, they now accept card payments. They offer unlimited facial tissues (unlike most Chinese restaurants), provide takeaway containers with no extra charge, and offer excellent value for money.
This hidden gem in Sunshine offers Afghan kebabs and curry served with delicious warm pita bread. Please note that the menu on Zomato may be outdated, and prices have increased. The restaurant only accepts cash and does not provide table water. Drinks: While table water is not available, you can purchase bottled water. Free hot water and green and black tea are also offered. Food: - "Lamb Qorma" $14: This curry was delicious and not too heavy. The lamb could have been more tender, but we thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The pita bread served for dipping was generous and absolutely amazing. - "Charcoal Chicken Full" $18.50: The chicken was nice and crispy, served with a side of salad and lemon. It was a bit plain. - "Mixed Kebabs" $18.50: This dish offers a yummy variety of kebabs, making it easy to share. Highly recommended. Ambience: The restaurant has a clean, warm, and homely interior with plenty of seating options, including some floor rug space.
The mixed grill kebabs is a definite go to! My partner and I both big eaters but ordering one mixed grill with an extra bread was more than enough for us to share! But what is really impressive is the Afghan bread that is HUGE and only $1 per every extra piece. Perfectly made with a crunchy exterior and soft interior! Also don’t forget to pick up some baklava on the way out for only $1 a piece as well! Will be back if I’m in Sunshine again, we found the service from the Afghan female staff really friendly
I have tried authentic Kebabs when I was in New Delhi, India (Khan Chacha and Kebab Xpress) and visit to Afghan Master Kebab was completely unplanned. I was visiting my friend in Sunshine and being a Middle Eastern guy, he suggested me to try this place for dinner. It was more like a Pakistani/Afghan cuisine. <br/ <br/ The restaurant location is a walkable distance from the nearest railway station (Sunshine) and from the bus station nearby. The ambiance was average. There is also a traditional form of seating on the floor at one end of the restaurant. <br/ <br/ The staff found clueless about the cuisine as I could see her struggling even to pronounce the name of dishes. I wish she could at least manage a warm and welcoming face. Moving on, we ordered Kebabs, Bread, Rice, and Lamb Curry. You can grab tea bags and hot water at the counter for free. As I was grabbing my favorite Pepsi Max, I noticed they have all sorts of soft drinks. <br/ <br/ We had a sumptuous meal. The bread was really big and I am sure I haven't tasted anything like that before. It was a bit crispy on the outside and very soft and airy on the inside. Though the lamb curry was delicious, the gravy was little watery for my taste. Wish they could provide us with some sauce or mayonnaise for the Kebabs. Talking about the quantity, I would say, I dish was enough for two people.
