I was quickly served a delicious meal of high quality and freshly prepared dishes by the teppanyaki chef. My meal included miso soup, a side salad, and a main dish of prawns and vegetables with rice. While the price might be considered a bit high for a cafe-style meal in a small shopping complex, I was satisfied with the quality of the food and the prompt service.
We had made a reservation at this restaurant weeks in advance to celebrate my husband's birthday dinner. We used pre-purchased vouchers from Living Social and were excited for our children to experience Teppanyaki food for the first time. The woman we spoke with on the phone assured us we would have a Teppanyaki table, so we thought everything was set. However, upon arriving a few minutes early for our reservation, we were met by a manager named Chris who seemed agitated by our presence, despite the restaurant being empty. He insisted we could only have an outside table, not the Teppanyaki table we had confirmed. He claimed this was their policy and that it was not his problem that we were not informed of the conditions of our voucher. He even suggested that they didn't need our business since we were originally supposed to redeem our voucher at a different restaurant. Feeling unappreciated, we decided to leave after expressing our extreme dissatisfaction with their service. To make matters worse, they called us after we left to say there had been a misunderstanding and we could now dine at the Teppanyaki table with the voucher. We had no interest in returning and will be sure to share our negative experience with friends.
This was our first time visiting this restaurant and unfortunately, despite it being a weekday, there was no atmosphere. It was also the first teppanyaki bar we have been to where the chef lacked engagement. The food was mediocre and we left feeling quite full. - Yeah.
We booked at this restaurant weeks in advance to celebrate my husband's birthday lunch. We were using pre-bought vouchers from Living Social and were looking forward to having our kids experience teppanyaki dining for the first time. The lady we spoke with on the phone when we made our reservation even assured us of getting a teppanyaki table so we thought everything was all set. Turned out the worst was yet to come. When we walked in 15 minutes early for our 12 noon booking, the person who met us, who we later learned was the manager, Chris, seemed already agitated at our arrival even though there wasn't a single customer in the restaurant yet. What made matters worse was his insistence that we could only get an outside table and not the teppanyaki table as we specifically confirmed when we called earlier. He even had the nerve to tell us that this was "policy" and that he couldn't do anything about it and that it "isn't their problem that the terms of our voucher redemption were not explained to us". In fact, he said, they weren't even earning anything from us patronising their place as they were only doing the owner of Kamikaze Teppanyaki (the original establishment we were supposed to redeem our vouchers from) a favor by taking us on.As our business was clearly not valued, we decided to just leave after expressing our extreme dissatisfaction with their "service". To add insult to injury, they called us minutes after we left to tell us that there was apparently some "miscommunication" and that we could now use our vouchers to dine at the teppanyaki table if we wished.Fat chance! We are never setting foot on Madam Wong's again and will make sure all our friends know of our sorry experience.
This was our first visit here and whilst it was mud week there was zero atmosphere there. This was also the first teppanyaki bar that had no engagement at al from the chef. The food was very average and we felt very bloated afterwards. Very disappointing indeed.
