I have been a loyal customer of Diamond restaurant for quite some time. I used to order takeout from the Clayton location, but unfortunately, I have since moved. The portion of veggie pakora is generous and reasonably priced. The butter chicken is delicious, as well as the naan bread. However, the Chana Masala I ordered was very spicy, which I enjoyed but my mother did not due to the heat. Overall, the restaurant serves great Indian food that even compares well to other downtown spots. Cheers!
If you find yourself in Surrey, make sure to try the curry at this restaurant. I have dined here multiple times and have never been let down. The service for our table was a bit slow, but it was due to the constant flow of locals coming in for Indian sweets and takeout. While the atmosphere may not be fancy, the food is absolutely delicious. During my most recent visit, we started with the fish pakoras as an appetizer and then shared the Prawn Masala and Chana Saag, accompanied by flavorful Basmati rice and naan. We will definitely be returning in the future.
The Diamond isn't on Scott Road, the main drag for good South Asian food in Surrey, but it appears to be a neighbourhood mecca for those living close to 160th and the Fraser Highway. The take out trade has been brisk each time I've visited. The Diamond has about a dozen comfortable booths and the in-house service is friendly and appropriately attentive. The entrees aren't especially large and sometimes they are a bit thin on meat but the sauces are rich and full of flavour. The appetizer Fish pakora is a special favourite of my family. It has a thin crisp and spicy coating on succulent chunks of large grained white fish. It comes with a green chutney and what looks like slivers of cooling daikon radish. Treat yourself and order a pound for less than $9.00. The Diamond also has a large and tasty sweet counter which only seems to lack my weakness- jalebi, .Let the staff describe their favourites and introduce you to new treats.
