We fell past a Saturday and ordered the sweet n sour pork over rice, although not all day special menu, it was reasonable price to $12,50. The sauce had a good taste and the pig was crispy and tasted pretty good.
We left this restaurant for a quick lunch. It is a smaller restaurant with several stands and small tables for 2. They recently moved to Burquitlam, so there are many parking spaces in the Strip Mall. I had #38 roasted rice noodle with...beef/soya sauce, #58 chicken with black bean sauce chow both my only $10.50) #60 roasted rice noodle with bovine breeze vegetables $11.95) These dishes in the All Day Special menu are very delicious with generous portions. Will have to come back soon...
We were there twice (butquitlam Plaza), since they moved from their former location in Cameron and Austin in Burnaby. The food is served very well and quickly. However, there is only one table that contains more than six accomodates. The rest of the tables are for two to four. Also during our second visit to a cold day, we found that the tables are exposed to the ventilation, which blows cool air directly at the tables. It cools the food quickly. Of course, the whole restaurant needs renovation. However, they seem to be a fleeting company.
Restaurant relocated to Coquitlam (within Burquitlam Plaza) recently our dining experience was there. I picked North Garden for my belated birthday lunch the other day. We (threesome) arrived about 11:00 am, and were able to find parking right in front of the entrance. The...restaurant offers a selection of two and four seat tables — the larger tables arranged along one inside wall, with the smaller tables arranged along the other inside, and outside walls, and down the center. We chose one of the 4 place tables. A quite plain and simple decor, and rather quiet ambiance, it looked and felt like our kind of small, local neighbourhood kind of place. After choosing the table, and getting seated, our server arrived with menus, and mugs of hot tea. Yeah, we were off to a good start. Here’s what was ordered and shared: (names of dishes and listings as per menu) Appetizer: Honey Garlic Spareribs — Beef: Beef with Tomatoes — Chow Mein: Sauteed Rock Cod with Vegetable Chow Mein — Pan Fried Shanghai Thick Noodle — Seafood: Spicy Salt Peppery Squid. The food arrived from kitchen to table in very well sized, good looking portions, with the dishes closely and appropriately sequenced. It definitely looked like I (we) had over ordered a touch, but, heh, it was a birthday lunch, and a little overdoing is allowed at such times! The food really did look good, and when all dishes were on, and covering our table, it surely did look like we were set to enjoy a feast!! But how did the preparations and tastes fair? Ribs meat tender, coating crispy dish tasty — Squid flesh very tender sweet, coating light, condiments spicy hot dish about as good as it gets — Chow Mein rock cod soft sweet, veggies noodles fine dish ’ok’, decent portions of fish, but quite heavy on noodles, and light on veggies — Beef w/Tomatoes plentiful, tender flavourful slices of beef tomato, absolutely delicious sweet savoury sauce dish so flavourful tasty, a major hit with the three of us — Shanghai Noodle noodles other ingredients, on the mark dish very flavourful tasty. I (we) truly enjoyed my birthday lunch dining experience at North Garden. The restaurant is not far away, and with these good memories in mind, I doubt it will be very long before we are back for more tastes.
