Roadhouse Bakery & Eatery - Surrey

I love the feel of this restaurant. The roadhouse look in the outside with the matching diner-style decor on the inside. The menu consists of typical diner food. I came for breakfast and had their eggs benedict with a side of bacon. Probably a bit more pricy than some other breakfast places but I guess the location and size of the place means prices need to be that way. The food was good. I enjoyed the freshness and accuracy of how it was prepared.

My husband and I love this place for anytime of day, breakfast, lunch or dinner. The service is always great and the menu has lots of variety.

Have seen the borsch when others have ordered it and because it was a soup day (miserable) I decided to order it. It arrived with cornbread and a dollop of sour cream. When I stirred it, I got a very pleasant surprise, as it was full of beets, and vegetables, not the watered down stuff you usually find at a restaurant. The generous slice of corn bread was a meal in itself, and the best I have ever tasted. They have a bakery beside the restaurant where you can buy their baked goods, and well worth it. I will definitely return for the excellent soup.

The last time we ate here (and it will be our last time) we waited nearly 20 minutes for our order to be taken and then watched while tables that came in after us ate and left. When we were finally able to get the attention of our wait staff she (after many excuses about how busy she was and how many tables she was tending) acknowledged she had forgotten to put our order in. It took over an hour for our food to land on our table. Two of us at the table have been wait staff and know it is possible to rush those mistakes through the queue. We had to go in search of water refills ourselves - again excuses rather than apologies. Usually such mistakes are comped somehow. Free drinks, one meal comped, an apology from the manager. Nothing. No acknowledgement of any kind. Just excuses. Even a simple apology goes a long way. We had always gone here with family when visiting White Rock - a bit of a tradition - but no more. If you can't put enough staff on the floor and they only offer excuses then something is wrong.

This is a comfort food place where we have eaten many times and always had great food. This place always has lots of people eating here. We love this place.
