Which is great for us, it's our Sutton secret and not impossible to get reservations busy ski weekends but more people should probably know of it's goodness, so voilà! Delicious terroir with a twist, a nod to traditional french cuisine using fresh, local ingredients, eg boudin noir with pineapple confit, excellent steak and local braised pork, a great little grilled seasonal vegetable dish, gluten-free and veggie options, a generous dessert menu (tarte tartin, creamy rice pudding with tonka bean, sigh and wine pairings. Thoughtful, local, simple but luxurious gastronomy. Every meal has been a happy experience. Go and thank me later ;
We weren't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be the best restaurant we tried in Sutton. The modern architecture was really nice, the ambiance was great, and the food was the highlight. I ordered the Risotto and absolutely loved everything about the place! Highly recommend it.
Great food, great service, great ambience. You won’t be disappointed. The service was impeccable, the food was exceptional. Great evening after a ski. Best sunsets in Sutton
The $55 per person set dinner started with a mediocre glass of sparkling wine, followed by a small cup of vegetable froth soup that was creamy and delicious. The appetizer of shrimp in a strong sauce was underwhelming and the entrees, while flavorful, were on the dry side. My lamb shank came with dry cous cous, and my risotto, while tasty, was a small portion. Dessert was shared, along with tea and coffee. Overall, we were not impressed with the food quality or portion size given the price. While we appreciate the idea of creating an intimate dining experience by sharing dishes, the portions should be adjusted accordingly. We were unsure if there had been a change in the kitchen management or chef, but the food did not meet our expectations compared to previous visits. As a result, we canceled our second dinner reservation and tried a different restaurant in town. We still love the hotel and its staff, and we hope that the bistro can improve in the future.
We booked and reserved ahead of time for a medium size group. The waiters were well attentioned, some of them only recently arrived in Canada from France part of an exchange program. Once the group was there I received the worst sequence of meal delivery I have ever experienced. Their menu selection is tapas which is not a problem when you know ahead of time. Except the dishes were completely rushed to our tables in no apparent logical order. Sometimes 3 dishes at once. This left very little time to appreciate the meal and the wines. Food selection was not bad, but based on this poor quality experience I will definitely reconsider a meal at l'Horizon any time in the future. Because the hotel is very seasonal, I would not expect a change in their ways. If in Sutton avoid this establishment and go for one of the venues directly in the village which has year-long clientele.
