Hyttefadet - Syddjurs

No table reservation possible, just “get in line” at the door. The kind staff lets people in, during the 2 hour opening (18-20). We waited for 15 minutes, and chose to be seated outside in the garden. The cheap plastic furniture was a bit unsettling, but the lovely weather and good vibes took over in an instant. The elder and snappy (in a good way) waiter was polite, but firm. We like a bit of edge on staff when we eat out, so smiles across the table were plenty. Menu is simple, primarily fish, but also burgers. We were 3 adults and 2 teens. Teens got burgers and adults fish. 2 traditional danish “stjerneskud”, and one “fish of the day”. I got “stjerneskud”. Nicely prepared fresh fish (deep fried), and it was perfect. Very standard, but really good. Burgers were great, not over cooked, pickled onions, and a dressing with a hint of mustard. Cheddar and bacon in brioche bun. Fries were from the freezer, and lit a lot of them, but aioli was good. Wife got fish of the day and was also very pleased. All in all a great meal, not expensive, and no surprises. After a visit here, you know what you get, and the curiosity to taste the other dishes is not really there.

Not impressed. with the location in the smokehouse should be the focus on the good homemade fish dishes. Instead, the focus is too strong on the frit. my fish cakes were inspiring and had been served too long on the pan with dry roggenbrot. good house dried remoulade. the smoked laughs of my wife was good, but the trip to the frittier was a little too much. the children were happy with their standard fish fillet with fries.

The restaurant has a limited selection, but this is balanced by the fantastic taste and the quality of the food. the stars we got were served with delicious and perfectly prepared fish fillets with crispy salt with homemade dressing. large fresh garnels with two species of caviaar ended the composition of this sturgeon shot served on crispy butter bread.

Nice place, great location, friendly staff, food fantastic and prices were reasonable ..... would love to come again!
