Black Star Pastry, makers of the internationally famed Strawberry Watermelon Cake have reopened in a central location in the CBD Galleries. Whilst their flagship store is in Newtown and they have a cafe style space in Rosebery and a store in St Kilda, Victoria, they’ve also been selling their sweet treats through a little spot in Kinokuniya bookshop in the Galleries. Since this was a small spot, only to be found by venturing up a few levels of the building, the move sees it in a larger space in a prime location on the ground floor of the Galleries (Pitt Street Entrance), enabling it to reach more foot traffic.

Been here a few months ago and its the best strawberry watermelon cake I had! The flavours were well balanced and not too sweet. It was refreshing too for a cake with the watermelon piece. I will recommend and will come back.
Love the cakes here but it’s pretty pricey. The watermelon cake is refreshing and not overly sweet.
