Johnny Bird - Sydney

Found Johnny at the Grifter and the prices seemed a lot lower than on the in store menus that I could find on the internet which is good because the normal prices seemed crazy while the pop up prices were reasonable. The fried chicken in the burger was generally good with an interesting flavour like it might have been marinated before battering, something you don’t see often (or it was all just from the bbq sauce) but it was a very thin piece of chicken. I’ll be generous with the rating because it still seems some of the best fried chicken in Sydney but with Thirsty Bird opening a branch in Newtown, I don’t see any need to come back for this.

I like their fried chicken from when the restaurant was called Johnny lobsters. I ordered some takeaway (Ubereats) on Sunday night, and the food delivered after about 30mins (I was approx. 4K from the restaurant) The fried wings tasted good enough without dipping sauce. The batter with pepper was so crispy. The fried chicken burger was delicious too it had bacon inside!

DELICIOUS!!! The burgers are huge and juicy! The fried chicken is tasty and juicy as well! The fries (potato and sweet potato) are yummy. The mac and cheese is creamy! Great service and atmosphere too for a new place!

Amazing burgers! The fries were amazing but my favourite was the popcorn chicken and spicy peri peri dip.

Had a hankering for a burger. Johnny bird answered the need. Ordered the original burger with side of thigh tenders, fries and a beer. Great service from the team, found a spot for me to dine in (out of the rain). Food came quick smart. Due to intense hunger, I downed the burger too soon and got a burnt mouth. Flavours were on point for me. A little messy eating by hand but I don’t mind. Fries were excellent. Fried chicken I didn’t touch as I ordered a bit too much food! They were kind enough to give me some take away boxes to take the leftovers home. Probably a little on the pricey side, however it hit the spot for me. Recommend, will go again!
