Federal House Grille - Sylmac

The staff at the door is extremely rude and one female working at the door was extremely rude when we asked her name because we wanted to report her to the manager she refused to tell us and made us leave. We called the police because we had done nothing wrong and the officer agreed with us but told us it is private property and they can let in whom ever they choose. This doesn’t seem right but we won’t be returning. Hopefully management will see that whomever this employee is she needs to be fired as she has absolutely no customer service skills She looks at people and decides if she doesn’t like them for whatever reason then won’t allow them in. There were 3 of us and me and my one friend she was going to let in but our third friend she denied. So obviously we all left together, because we were not going to leave our other friend on the street alone. Unbelievable that she has a job only thing I can think of is she is related to owner maybe. We will just take our business elsewhere and we advise others to do the same don’t give this employee the opportunity to look you up and down and decide if she wants to let you in or not. Couldn’t tell you want the food is like cause we didn’t get past the front door. That’s ok we went O’Brien and had great good and great time!

Some very good….some not so good. To start, the crab dip was excellent…creamy, hot, and delicious. The menu said it came with tortilla chips. When it was brought to table, no chips…just bread. I asked about it and was told the chips were stale. Of course don’t want stale chips, but go buy some?!!!! Didn’t really want to have only that heavy bread to use to dip. But the dip was super. I had boom boom shrimp. They were so so but for the price I expected more than 4! Quantity was not noted on menu. Son said his burger with crab dip was good. Dessert was a miss. It was a skillet cookie. Thought it would be a half baked type ooey cookie…was 3 small chocolate chip cookies that looked like Chips Ahoy. Were barely warm. Had some whipped cream and a big marshmallow. My son ate it but wasn’t impressed. Wish I had sent it back. Service was good. I’d go back just for the crab dip (hopefully with chips next time if I do) but that’s it.

French onion soup crab salad were YUM and the perfect amount of food. The server was very nice and attentive. A few other staff were talking amongst one another and complaining about various topics loudly. That soured the atmosphere a bit, but overall a good place to check out for a quick bite.

Actually got charged $9.75 for this weak pour. Really? Pretty bitter after the fact that it took over 20 minutes after being seated to even get a chance to place an order. This really shouldn’t be happening in the off-season.
