Red Star Taco - Tacoma

I ordered the vegan tacos, and they were incredibly spicy—almost painfully so. There wasn’t any warning about the spice level, and nothing on the menu suggested they would be that hot. On the bright side, the service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was charming, though quite loud. The margaritas were absolutely delicious!

My friend recommended Red Star multiple times as an excellent lunch spot, and we finally decided to check it out! I ordered the two taco plate and had a tough time deciding which tacos to try. I went with the fried chicken and carne asada. The fried chicken taco was incredibly tasty, with just the right amount of heat and sweetness! The carne asada taco was also delicious, and I opted for flour tortillas for both. I chose pinto beans as a side, and they were fantastic with the added bacon! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was enjoyable!

I almost visited several times, passing close to Fremont on numerous occasions and driving by the Tacoma location. Finally, the decision was made, and I’m so glad it was! I love the atmosphere, starting with Mya at the front desk. There was about a 40-minute wait when Happy Hour ended on Saturday, but parking was a breeze with plenty of street spaces available. We were lucky to have Mya as our server, and then we were taken care of by Alex for the rest of the evening. He happened to be bartending, and he was the perfect fit for my first server experience—I can’t even express how great he was! Alex guided us through the menu, chatted with us about popular items, and offered advice when we weren’t sure what to order. He was fantastic, and we can’t wait to return on a Sunday night to sit at the bar with him. The food was outstanding—not trying to reinvent the wheel here, just great quality ingredients prepared with skill and a keen attention to detail. There wasn’t a single misstep from beginning to end. I can’t wait to come back soon for the Carne Asada Tacos and Korean short ribs!

Amazing tacos. Great value, great taste. Chips were perfect, light and warmed. Pico salsa was perfect, not sharp. Perfect mix of ingredients. House salsa was fine. Only negative for me was the pineapple roja salsa, too much roja and not enough pineapple. But others in my party like it.

Good place for happy hour!!! They serve slushiee margaritas, good tacos and great friendly service. Always coming here for good time
