Uncle Thurms Soul Food - Tacoma

I visited Uncle Thurms for the first time today, and let me tell you, the food is AMAZING! As soon as I walked in, the aroma reminded me of my big aunt's house on a Sunday, and I knew the food would be fantastic. Not only is the food incredible, but the hospitality is wonderful too—I felt like I was at my uncle's home! My husband, who is from Georgia, insists that every dish tastes like it's straight from the South. I even got my 5-year-old to try catfish today because it was so delicious! Thank you, Uncle Thurm; we will definitely be back for more of that great food and those generous portions!

We ordered catfish, red beans and rice, and cornbread. The food was fantastic! I recommend adding pepper sauce to the fish for an extra kick. While the decor isn't anything extraordinary, the service was excellent, and our meals arrived hot and delicious in a timely manner.

I had a long wait, but considering it was lunchtime on a Wednesday, I can't really hold it against them. Even when it was a bit cold, the food was still fantastic! I ordered the soul food medley and was 100% satisfied. The greens weren’t too salty or soggy, the catfish nuggets were amazing, and the ribs were so tender they practically fell apart. The only disappointment for me was the Kool-Aid; it was rather bland. I understand that with a range of flavors, they might want to keep the sweetness in check. I would definitely come back, especially if it’s less crowded. If the food was this good warm, I can only imagine how incredible it will be when it’s hot and fresh!

The first time here and the food was amazing!!! Meals were large and filled and the prices were cheap! The food was so good that we later go back to get dinner!!!

This place is amazing, hands down and legitimately one of the best soul food spots in Washington. Friendly staff as well. This plate was $10!
