El Vaquero Mexican - Tahlequah

This is my second visit, and the Menudo here is incredible! I'm really glad we discovered this place near the land we just bought. I've tried Menudo at other restaurants a few times, but it never quite hit the mark. I decided to give it one last chance, and I'm so happy I did. The Enchiladas and Costilla (pork ribs in red sauce) are also fantastic. You absolutely have to try the guacamole! The customer service is outstanding as well. This will definitely be our go-to spot whenever we're in town.

This restaurant serves regular-sized tortilla tacos. It's usually fine if smaller tacos use two tortillas, but I think having two tortillas on larger tacos is a bit excessive. I visited on Taco Tuesday, where tacos were priced at $1.25 each, and I ordered ten, expecting to pay $12.50. However, my bill somehow ended up being over $16, and I paid in cash, so there were no card fees. The place was quite busy, and it felt like they were cranking out tacos too quickly. The large tacos had thick tortillas that barely contained a decent amount of meat, and the tortillas seemed undercooked, indicating that my order was rushed. Regardless of whether they were understaffed or not, rushed food usually doesn’t taste good. It ended up costing me a nice dinner with my wife, and we had to order something else that wasn’t already cold. They do offer what seems to be complimentary salsas, onions, and limes. The other menu items might be better, but on this particular evening, I felt hurried with my order, even though I was willing to wait. I’m giving it three stars mainly for its “low price” given the current inflation. However, I think the portion sizes need to be reconsidered as well.

The chicken nachos were absolutely delicious! The portions were generous, and the margaritas were tasty. The service was friendly, making for a great overall experience!

IDK but when I think authentic Mexican food I expect it to be made fresh not store bought but idk that's my opinion I ordered Nachos and they gave me a good size portion but stacked it on a lil azz plate ??????????? like make it make sense anyways I won't be going back ????
