It had an overwhelming amount of mustard, and the seasoning was oddly off, with thick, strange lumps, and many bites barely had any bacon flavor. The overall taste just didn’t come together. I’ve included an image for reference. However, I’ve had some of the best burgers around! During my visit, I also had the Chili Cheeseburger, which reminded me of my favorite burger joint. I highly recommend trying the limited-time Campfire Burger for Tampa Burger Week. The beef patty had a fantastic taste and really stood out. It was delicious!
On Friday night, I was in the mood for hamburgers, so I chose Burger Monger from my list of places to try. I ordered through DoorDash and decided to go for the Jalapeño Snapburger (with a lettuce wrap) and a side of sweet potato fries. My order arrived in about 30-35 minutes, and the food was hot and tasty. I absolutely loved the sweet potato fries—they were delicious and cooked to perfection. As for the Jalapeño Snapburger, I realized too late that it had a beef patty, which I’m not particularly fond of. That was my oversight. I’m definitely planning to try Burger Monger again, but I'll stick with a chicken patty next time, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it!
Initially, I was surprised to find only one other couple in the restaurant, especially since it was Burger Week from November 3-9, 2022. (If you're not familiar with Burger Week, you can check out the Creative Loafing website for more details.) The first photo of the burger captures my disappointment better than words could express. They used to serve the best fries, but now I have to say they USED to have the best fries. Previously, they were fresh-cut, but this time they served frozen fries. From the very first bite, I could tell they were frozen. When I inquired about it, the staff did a bit of sidestepping but eventually admitted that the restaurant had switched suppliers. Thanks, COVID! The menu still lists natural-cut French fries, but I suspect that “natural” has changed to refer to machine-processed options in today’s market. If they had to print new menus for every change, they might lose the savings they gained with generic products. I ordered the Blaz’n Bacon Blue burger for $10.49 and only managed to eat about a quarter of it, as shown in the first and second images. Guy had the mushroom Swiss burger for $9.99 and ate most of his, but neither of us could believe this was the same restaurant we once loved. A side of fries was priced at $3.99, and we each asked for water, which came free of charge. Unfortunately, the water tasted like the flavored water that everyone pretends to enjoy nowadays—definitely not for me, and Guy wasn’t a fan, either. I could go on, but I also want to mention that when I went to wash my hands in the ladies' room, one of the male employees was in there. I won’t comment further on that since it might not be politically correct. So, I’ll let my pictures tell the story.
I went for Monday $5 Burger. Great deal. The rabbit is good, but a pulpit would take this into the best counter-service broker in America. The Toppings and Monger?special? sauces are very fresh and contrast the fleshy kindness. The grilled onions are prepared for a fantastic standard and have a wonderful taste that underlines the fleshy Burgerpatty. They get their money back to the Pommes and the Shakes. The sweet potato wafers have excellent crispy texture and a chewing center. The strawberry is great, my only thing is that they have a paper straw. Bring a big appetite, you want to try everything.
Spent an additional $6.17 to customize our burgers without getting any paid for add-ons. I know they sold recently, wish it wasn?t so evident. Spend the extra couple dollars on Mondays and go to Burger 21 up the road.
