Frankie's Lobstah Trap - Tampa

Have been here many times with my husband, this time we brought another couple. They loved it too. This is our go to place at International Plaza!

This is a charming new restaurant. The prices are somewhat high given the portion sizes, and it's a bit on the smaller side. There is only one unisex restroom available. While the flavors are quite good, they aren't extraordinary. I really enjoyed the tenderness of the calamari, both fried and grilled. The fries were delicious, especially with the truffle oil. However, the Old Fashioned cocktail felt a bit pricey for its taste and serving size.

I ordered a lobster roll with garlic butter, which I really enjoyed. I highly recommend upgrading to the truffle fries—they are absolutely delicious. On my last visit, I opted for mac and cheese as a side, but it was just okay. While it did have several pieces of lobster, the flavor didn't quite meet my expectations. I didn't order a drink this time, so I can't speak to their quality, but the bar service seemed efficient for those around us. The staff was friendly, but we did experience a bit of a wait. I had to move my drink to indicate that I needed a refill, which was the same situation I encountered on my previous visit. Still, the food was tasty, and overall, it was a good experience.

I visited Frankie's for lunch and had an excellent experience. Our server, Anishah, was exceptional and made sure all our needs were met. Despite seeing all the negative reviews, I decided to give it a try, and I’m really glad I did.

I would give it 4.5 stars just because they were out of oysters during happy hour ; But the lobster bisque was excellent (if a tad on the salty side and the grilled octopus was juicy and not rubbery: just right. I was concerned about service, given the other reviews but Nikki has been very attentive. Will visit again.
