The Albert - Tamworth

The food at this restaurant was just okay despite the high prices. This was our third or fourth visit and each time has been slightly worse. It's a shame because the place is highly regarded, but we will be trying other restaurants in Tamworth as this will likely be our last visit. We recommend trying it out for yourself and forming your own opinion.

Our formerly beloved restaurant in Tamworth provided a sadly disappointing experience. We were unable to order monkfish, scallops, or salmon, and had to wait an hour for our main courses. The lamb chops were served without potatoes, the vegetables were lukewarm, and we had to actively seek out a waitress to order dessert. Additionally, workmen in dirty clothes were coming in and out, and a rowdy group of young men were loudly shouting and laughing in the back of the restaurant. Our bill came to £150, even though two members of our party did not drink. Despite the issues, I still tipped the waitress as she acknowledged the poor service was not her fault. It's unlikely that we will be returning to this restaurant in the near future.

I have visited this restaurant twice with my family and I am extremely impressed with the service and the quality of food. It was difficult to find a restaurant in Tamworth that serves a good steak, but now I am happy. The filet is amazing, the homemade chips are delicious, and the Greek salad is authentic. My wife and daughters loved the cocktails and the staff and chef were very friendly. Thank you for another fabulous evening. I would rate my experience 10/10.

The menu choice was good, you could order from the main menu or have a Sunday roast, we opted for the roast. It looked absolutely delicious when it arrived, but I soon realised it was cooked with a lot of rosemary, not just in the gravy, but also on the potatoes and with the pork. I am not a picky eater, but I struggle with strong flavoured herbs. I scraped off the rosemary I could, but the pork had a lot of rosemary cooked in it and spoilt it for me. On the plus side, my friend had the roast chicken and she said it was delicious. The vegetables were delicious and the staff friendly. If you don't like rosemary, you're probably best to eat off the other menu.
