Feedback gevenA very nice meal, but certainly not traditional Mexican or Spanish. Their slogan is "A street food experiment" and the result of the experiment is a fairly unique use of Mexican ingredients (and others). We had soft tacos - one serve of pulled beef and one of sea scallop. You get three tacos per serve, which sounds like a lot, but they are only small and four would have been better.Should have gotten an entree as well, but we were a bit pressed for time, so went away a bit hungry.Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient - both the restaurant staff and the bar staff. Even though it is at the back of a hotel and we were there on a Friday night, the atmosphere was quite good and not very noisy. A reasonably nice outdoor area too.
Before I start I have to say I love Mexican food. Having said that, I did not love this place. We went here on our first night in Tamworth after it was recommended to us, and to be honest I was not impressed. The menu was quite limited compared to other Mexican places, which I suppose is understandable given that it is inside a pub, and is not what I would call traditional Mexican (to be expected I guess as the menu calls it a 'street food experiment').The staff were friendly enough, and the prices reasonable, but when our meals came out there was a huge difference in serving size. My wife and son ordered a burrito off the specials board, which came with chips, my daughter ordered a burger, which also came with chips, and I ordered a quesadilla, which I only found out when they brought it out, came with nothing. The burritos were pretty large, the burger not a bad size, but the quesadillas were entree sized at best, especially since they came with no sides. The taste was nice, but again not that true traditional Mexican that I was after, and after I finished my (full-priced) mini-meal was still left hungry. Luckily my wife is not a big eater and couldn't finish her burrito, or I would have been off to Maccas after we left.Overall, while the taste was ok, and the service friendly, the value for money and the traditional Mexican flavours weren't there. Very disappointed.
Find your way through the front pub to this fresh and yum take on Tex Mex. Very casual with massive serves, the food was flavourful and modern. We definitely over-ordered but it was worth it to try everything. We ordered the following, and everyone raved about everything:Pineapple frittersCharred CornSweet potato friesBurrito SpecialCheeseburger quesadillaSteak TacosAnd two of the burgers. The staff were also so friendly and nice! Our food came out quickly as well :)
Don't be put off by the ordinary pubby decor. The food here is fantastic! Beautiful Mexican inspired menu bursting with flavour. Happy, cheerful, positive people at the counter to take your order. Meals come out quickly. Excellent presentation & obviously fresh ingredients are used..you can taste it! Will definitely be going back. Want to try everything on the menu!
Walked in, went to the food counter, glanced at the menu, got drinks, went back to order food to be told they we couldn't order. It was 6.30 on a Friday evening in a room that was only a third full. The kitchen had at least 5 people in it plus 2 counter service people. No signs to say they had run out of food or couldn't manage just - NO FOOD ORDERS!!Ridiculous. Definitely would not have ordered the drink and will not be back to this place. Why open a restaurant if you cant handle serving food. Mind boggling amateur incompetence here. You don't get worse than a restaurant that cant serve food. (pub with no beer?) Maybe they should stick to experimenting on the street.
