What and amazing surprise! The restaurant itself is simple but cozy. There is an splendid view. We could not enjoyed it though because it was at night during winter time. The dishes were excellent. Different kind of fish and seafood are offered. It is typical Sicilian food with a new interpretation. They had nice wines from Sicily too. The service was excellent. Il signore Salvatore was very kind and friendly with us. We felt “ at home” and went back our second day in Taormina. It is not cheap but worth the money. We were really very satisfied.
We did not stay here, but used the restaurant twice. It was on the expensive side, but we thought it was worth its money. The food was lovely and the views were stunning.
My husband and I had dinner at Villa Great on our first night in Taormina as it was close to our B&B and were the only ones dining there that evening. The restaurant is set high above Taormina and has great views of the ocean and Mt Etna. We shared a starter of calamari which was a very small plate for the 15 euro price. Unfortunately there was no lamb which was on the menu so we had the pasta with clams and mussels which was very tasty and the meatballs in lime leaves was delicious. The panacotta and berry desert was a nice finish to the meal. The wine was average as was the beer.
Only ate here for one evening. The food was reasonable but overpriced. Where we were seated the waiter stood directly at the side of us for the duration of our meal, this made us feel very uneasy. Would not recommend following our experience.
A well run family hotel that’s been established for over 50 years, so they must be doing it right! It may not be your modern glitzy 5 star building down in the town, but your up the hill with spectacular views of the sea and across to the snowy peak of Mount Etna. That view alone is worth staying here and to have a lemon tree outside our room was fantastic. The room was comfortable and large enough, would have been nice to have had tea/coffee facilities in the room, but we made do with Limoncillo instead, after all when in Sicily......Breakfast is continental style with a lot of choice, we had an evening meal on a couple of occasions and it was certainly a good standard. It’s a 10 minute walk down to the Main Street in Taormina, using various steps and streets, allow a bit longer to make your way back up, or you can use the bus that will stop outside the top entrance upon request. The staff are so helpful and can suggest day trips and places to visit. If you hire a car from the airport as we did, make sure it is a small one and take out the extra car body insurance, as Sicilian driving standards do not match ours. Every car in the street was dented! Parking is on street outside the hotel just up the hill. If your looking for a place that’s a bit more traditional and rustic, then look no further. If your an animal lover too like us. Silvio the cat will make you very welcome, and may even pass the evening snoozing on your lap.
