I'd also recommend getting a side of green chili sauce to drizzle on everything. Coffee was also great and they brew their iced tea, none of that yucky stuff from the soda gun. Great place to get breakfast or lunch, both of which are served all day.
Walking around downtown Taos in search of a quick bite. There was quite a crowd at Bent Street Cafe, so I figured that boded well for the food. Boy, was that spot on! Super casual menu, no frills, but definitely some tasty food. We had sandwiches, which is always a good time! Hubby selected the Berry Turkey with house-made cranberry sauce and cream cheese. I chose the Pita the Greek with hummus, cucumber, tomato, feta, and olives. Both sandwiches were a good portion size, fabulous and full of flavor, especially the Greek one. In fact, we recreated it when we got home and mercy it was yummy! Service was quick and friendly. We were definitely happy we chose to eat here. Great lunch spot for sure.
Not knocking the food... just the service. Checked in to the hostess and was told we would have a 30 min wait, which was fine because there are lots of shops and things to see around the restaurant. They took my cell number and said they would call when the table was ready. At about the 30 min mark my wife and I walked back to the restaurant thinking it would be soon. After a few more minutes my wife asked how long it would be and she was told about 20mins! We thought about just skipping it, but we were hungry and we would have had to start over at a different restaurant. Finally we were called to our table. Got drinks pretty quick but then we sat waiting for our waiter. And sat... Long story (already! but is was 55min from when we were seated to actually getting our meal! (We did have an appetizer, which came out and was long gone . And 2 tables that came in after us got food before us! The food... our guacamole was excellent. And my California Cub was good too. My wife's breakfast croissant was okay. They did have 4 waiters and the place as a low capacity (Covid so I can't imagine how long it would have took if the place was full!
The hostess dropped her head into her hand, sighed and said she needed to have some tables cleared. No eye contact at all. Then she seated the party of four that was in line behind my boyfriend and me. Disappointing. However, we got a great meal elsewhere with spot on service, which wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been snubbed here. Our money went to a classier establishment.
This place was super cute with a great view of cute area. We sat outside which was fun. We both ordered salads. I got a $6 house salad but was rather disappointed. One poor slice of tomato and two slices of cucumber? Hmm I feel like this could be improved. Possibly chop them up? Adding a little cheese or croutons could help take this to the next. Or potentially lower the price to $3. They also didn't have to-go boxes and only had bags that lacked a way to seal them. I'm not sure if it's this way or not but it was strange to say the least.
