The restaurant has a delightful atmosphere with cheerful and happy staff. The service is good and the breakfast food is delicious, making it a great start to a busy day in town for an appointment or shopping.

Eat them here often the staff are fantastically always friendly and cheerful, they work really hard. never hard a cold meal always well cooked. great building.

The tables are dirty, which is a shame because the staff is lovely. However, they only clean the tables if you ask, and when they do, it's just a quick wipe down that doesn't really clean them properly. It wasn't even that busy.

We always used to go to a Wetherspoons until they took a turn for the worse during the pandemic but NOW they're back as one of our favourite places to eat. It looked clean, well-spaced and efficiently run by friendly staff. Such nice food,...and so inexpensive. My companion chose ham, two eggs and chips, which he said were very good. I had fish and chips. Although it was a standard fish and not small it was actually small-ish and in two separate pieces, but anyway it was very well cooked, batter just right, fish in moist flakes, and so I was pleased with it. Chips were well cooked, just right, not too large or small. This pub is in a magnificent building, which used to be the Town Hall. Toilets are clean and well designed. However, I would recommend some air freshener is used on the stairs leading to the toilets as there was definitely a lavatorial whiff hanging around there. But overall, I recommend the Iron Duke!
