The Barrel Room - Tauranga

If you enjoy craft beer and are in Tauranga, you should head over here right away! They have an excellent selection of beers, featuring local and New Zealand brewers. Although the food menu might be somewhat limited, the quality of the dishes and the fantastic staff more than compensate for it. And here’s the real highlight: they boast the best hot sauce collection I've seen in any bar! Forget about Tabasco or Cholula; this place has the serious stuff from Fire Dragon and Culleys. Woo hoo!

I was truly impressed. The drink selection was extensive, with each one blended perfectly and beautifully presented. There were numerous dishes available, all well-matched and served in generous portions. My lamb shank was outstanding, and we also tried the steak, fish, and loaded fries—each dish could easily deserve its own review. The jalapeño poppers were complemented by a strong cheese that balanced out the spice, demonstrating that the chef really thought through every detail of each dish. It’s worth mentioning that the coffee stout might not be to everyone's taste, but the waitress went out of her way to highlight this, showing excellent service and honesty.

I especially appreciated the service from the bartenders! They were incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and will definitely have to return to try all the amazing gins displayed on the shelf. Thank you for taking such good care of us!

Very good service, food and drinks. Many locally made ciders and craft beer. Great spot on a Sundy afternoon, though a little expensive. 2 pints of cider and a bowl of chips for $37.
