I don’t live locally to the area but when I was in town I did head back, little under 12 months from my last visit. It was a Sunday and the pie came with all the roast trimmings, amazing lunch. I’ll be back..
We popped in on Saturday after a day's Christmas shopping un Exeter. Most tables were reserved we know why now. The landlady was incredibly friendly and found us a table. The food was well presented and lovely. The pub was atmospheric and had a lovely feel to it. We will definitely be coming back soon
We booked lunch at this pub as its in the perfect location for meeting up with family, who live in South Devon, whilst we were travelling home from a holiday in Cornwall. We were pleasantly surprised to find it sitting in a quintessential little village. We were greeted with a warm welcome and our party of 13 seated at one end of the delightful bar area. Very dog friendly too. There's a lovely garden outside and ample parking. We'd been asked to pre order our meals which we were happy to do as we were a large group. The food was served efficiently, it was freshly cooked and very tasty. The staff were pleasant and made us feel very comfortable.
We found the quintessential local English pub, The Huntsman in Ide. Just off the A30, we stopped in for lunch, enjoyed friendly quick service, ciders on draft, plenty of food options (delish Steak Ale pie with mash for me), sparkling clean toilets, and a beer garden out back adjacent to their large car park. On our drizzly Tuesday afternoon, a stream of locals (their regular beers pulled without ordering as soon as they popped in the door) brought the place to life. If we lived 4000 miles closer, we’d be in here every day. Lucky you, residents of Ide!
