Not as great as it used to be, very expensive for a carvery and a drink for 2 £40+ will not rush back not very clean in areas and sticky tables and no pepper in the pots ,
When you are paying £15 for a carvery you expect it to be really good. The meat was nice but the undercooked frozen vegetables not so. Potato’s carrots and parsnips hard and undercooked, Runner beans from the wholesalers! Also charged £4 for a baby’s bowl! £4!!!! She literally had 2 runner beans and a couple of carrots! Never been anywhere they have charged for a baby! Not only that but £5.90 for a pint of Carlsberg is daylight robbery! You are not even paying for the atmosphere or ambience as the place is so outdated and dirty in place! Absolute rip off won’t be returning! Stick to the Carriages if you are looking for a decent value for money carvery!
We went as a family of 4, one had the carvery, and had said the meat was lovely but the potatoes was very dry and the veg was undercooked. For myself And another family member our meals was disgusting, it was all over cooked and the fish had been fried in old oil, and so over done there wasn’t much fish at all within the batter. The halloumi was completely over cooked you couldn’t even taste that it was halloumi. And the chicken burger was so small and dry. This restaurant has been taken over and for years we have been going there for family occasions and will definitely not be going back the food was horrible. But on the plus side the puddings was very good.
My group of 5 and 1 dog had a great experience dining here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The meal was hot and served in generous portions. The dessert was huge and I had trouble finishing it. The prices were very reasonable. The decor is a bit outdated, but I would definitely come back again.
