Most of the food we ordered tasted more than average. The first order that came was the fried rice, it was super fragrant (however it would be better if rice dish was not served the first). The pork ribs were tender and the sweetness was decent. We loved the roast duck; the meat was moist, and the skin was crispy. What a perfect combo! The squid was not my favourite but it's alright (maybe its seasoning was not too well absorbed into the squid). The birthday noodles were delicious, and the salted egg prawns were recommended. We also had the steamed minced pork which reminded us of home cooking, and sauteed pork bacon which was also well enjoyed. After being remodelled, May Star now has a minimalist concept. The lighting was soft, making the guests feel comfy. The staff were agile and attentive. Keep up the quality!
Dimsum not bad. Ordered rice roll with fried doughnut. The doughnut was crispy. Good combination. Just make sure to eat it immediately and don't wait too long. Chicken feet was not bad as well. A bit spicy. Definitely different from what I used to. Service needs improvement. Food were all out but drinks were left behind and we had to ask them for the drinks. Empty plates took a while to be removed from table. And this was actually pretty early in the morning before they were even busy.
Service : Host of the restaurant doesn't present thyself too well. Attitude was shown and constantly looked down on us and some other patrons. No visible waiters at all times, but taking orders are fast, and food comes in the normal wait time. Overall 6/10. Food : We've decided to go with three menus, bbq pork, salted egg prawns, and beef xo sauce noodles. Pork was well cooked, crispy on the outside and had a bite, but not too dense, still tender. Prawns were soft and had a subtle taste of salted egg. Noodles were a bit chewy but very soft, overcooked, the sauce was your average soy sauce. Overall 8.5/10 May Star is definitely a family favorite for years, and the food is still good, I'd just hope the service would improve here.
I keep saying Wow after having my dinner in this place. We order Dry Fried Chicken, bean curd tofu, prawns and fried noodle. All served well and perfectly cooked. Taste sooo good... I would definitely come again but not too frequent considering the price :D :D
