The food isn't the same. A lot has changed from the menu. Udon curry is salty. Miso soup hardly has seaweed or tofu. Their poke appetizer is also salty. Service isn't the same. Very slow and forgetful. Prices are expensive and not worth it. Every dish you order is small portion. It's just not the same.
FOOD: I've been to Ajisen Ramen since childhood, so it always feels nostalgic coming here with my family. I alternate between the iconic Premium Pork Ramen $16.95) and the Chicken with Egg Drop Udon $14.75), both very satisfying. I appreciate how hot the dishes are at Ajisen when they're served. So many ramen or udon places serve lukewarm the broth lukewarm, and as a slow eater, my food feels cold so soon. The Premium Pork Ramen is so well seasoned and packed with flavor. The meat is not your typical round ramen chashu, but instead slices of tender pork that have just the right amount of marbling so the flavor from the fat shines without your arteries feeling like they're getting clogged. The noodles are thin and chewy, absorbing the richness from the soup. Udon noodles are my favorite type of noodle, so the Chicken with Egg Drop Udon is another staple in my rotation. Their udon is so chewy and the broth isn't oily, making it a perfect dish if you want something lighter. The ribbons of egg and slight crunch from white onions pair wonderfully with large cuts of chicken. SERVICE/AMBIANCE: There's a decent amount of seating available at this location, and the interior is clean; I feel like I've seen it get remodeled so many times. This spot used to get so packed, but I feel like it's gotten less busy over the years. Our waiter was excellent, I believe his name was Jonothan I am not sure if I spelled his name correctly ahh) but he was attentive and extremely kind to us. OVERALL: I forgot how much I liked Ajisen Ramen until coming back again recently! It's remained consistent over the decade or so I've been here, so I would recommend others to stop by.
I have tried many Ramen places and this has been the Absolute best one so far. A must try and service was great. Thank you to our waiter denilson for the great service. I ordered the pork ramen and what really surprised me was how perfectly thin sliced the meat was. Definitely will return.
