Feedback gevenMy family was staying in Walton, so they decided to meet me in Frinton. As soon as we arrived at The Hat and Mouse, we noticed a sign stating that there were no toilets. We wished they had informed us when we made the reservation. When I asked why there were no toilets, the lady explained that they were not allowed to open them as they couldn't clean after every person. This seemed odd, as we had been in a pub earlier where nobody cleaned after each person. The lady seemed unhappy and I felt uncomfortable for asking. The toilets were a considerable distance away, and if my elderly aunt had been with us, it would have been very difficult. We couldn't use the pub without ordering a drink, so we would have had to leave the restaurant. The server was not very pleasant. I am giving stars because we enjoyed our food, but it was very stuffy inside, and we were relieved to leave because of this. I would consider going back if they addressed the issue of the toilets and added air conditioning in the summer. Perhaps the staff would be more pleasant if they received fewer complaints about the lack of toilets and the heat on that day.
I went to this restaurant twice in one week. It was suggested by some friends, and now I understand why. The food and dessert were excellent. The staff was also very friendly. Luckily, we were able to snag a table because there was a last-minute cancellation. I couldn't find any faults. It was so great that we ended up buying the restaurant's cookbook!
