Lightest lentil papadum I’ve ever tasted! Chicken makhani was very flavorful went great with a Thirsty Goat amber ale.

We had lunch here with my nephew and his wife on route Austin airport to catch our flight, I was really impressed! A great find and they had eaten here before, so we had a selection of starters between us; samosa, pan puri and For mains I had the Vindaloo the others a Madras, a Makhani and Chicken tikka masala all excellent. Servers were knowledgable and charming a lovely lunch time experience in downtown Austin.

I was in town for business and decided to check out Rainey Street. I enjoy the vibe and ever changing scenery. I am in town fairly frequently and wanted to try some place different. A colleague spot G’Raj Mahal, the menu looked good so we went in. The place had the expected ambiance. The windows to the kitchen were actually a very unique touch and gave you a chance to see your food prepared. The food however, was underwhelming. One of the guys had the lamb burger which was raw. We had a difficult time waving down our waitress. We were all almost done with our meals by the time the burger came back. The portions were small. The service was very much lacking from start to finish. I could understand if the place was packed. But it was not. For the price, there are a lot of better choices on Rainey.

Don't bother. We went on a recommendation from our AirBnB host. He must own it, because it was about about as bad as his apartment. Out of 2 appetizers and the one we orderded never showed. Food spice levels were all wrong from what we orderd and one entree was not what we ordered. Then we had to fight with them to remove the missing appetizer and the wrong entree.

... and, after dining here, it was easy to see why. The order taker and check bringer (she doesn’t deserve the title “server” was disinterested, surly, and mostly absent. One of the dining plates we were given had baked on, non washed food. “Sorry ‘bout that” was the flippant reply when I dared suggest a replacement. The food was bland, flat, watery, and spiceless. The Lady ordered her meal “mild” and I requested “medium”. There was NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL between the two. The sauces were water thin with no body or texture at all. My assumption is that the multiple high star reviews previously given came from house family or under prior ownership, because there is no way in Austin that so many folks could find so much to like in so poor an excuse for a restaurant.
