True to its rising popularity among both foreign and local YouTubers, this restaurant serves delicious traditional food. I visited for both lunch and dinner, and was impressed by the variety of dishes offered during lunch. The Payasam dessert, available in four different varieties, was a highlight. However, be prepared for a rush during the lunch hour and potential wait times for a seat. The service team works quickly to clean and seat customers, but securing a table may require some patience. In the evening, the menu expands to include various dosas and other local specialties, all of which are tasty.
Absolute disaster. We had booked much ahead of Thiruvonam that fell on 29/8/23; considering the rush and hype created. Reached the place by 10a.m to find a totally unorganised place with no arrangements made either to handle the huge crowd waiting outside the closed shutters or to make payments either. No one from the staff or management was there to answer our queries. There was no queue system and it was a jam packed crowd waiting in all sweat and fury while the staff were still trying to pack the boxes even at 12 noon. Finally after much chaos and confusion and intervention by the city police we could somehow squeeze out from the crowd with our order of four sadyas by 1p.m. Reaching home we realised that in place of 4 we were given only two banana leaves on which we serve the sadya. On un boxing we were terribly disappointed to see that the whole set of pickles were absent. Payasam--the highlight of sadya was given in very poor quantity..bare one cup for the 4 sadyas together. In spite of all the mess, none of the dishes was upto their usual standard and not even the RASAM was tasty enough to console the disappointment. In total, this year's Ona sadya from Mother's was a terrible disaster which no one should ever try, to spoil their Onam. Never ever try to have Sadya from Mother's for the Onam...because , they take orders much much more than what they can handle and finally it becomes a total mess from cooking to delivery....spoiling a long awaited lunch for many. Yes..they are tasty and good for the rest of the year, but not for the ONAM SEASON.
We had a negative experience with the service and received low-quality food, especially during busy festive seasons. Our complaints were ignored and we do not recommend relying on this restaurant for advance payment bookings. Overall, a terrible experience.
Food taste is wonderful. Hygine is not upto my expectation. I expect serving people are more trained. When they are serving sambar, ladle is touching my rice.
