My daughter and I visited the garden centre last weekend and had a delicious lunch. We were met with a very warm welcome and our food was served promptly and was extremely tasty. We unfortunately didn't have room for cake but have also had their afternoon teas before and they are highly recommended. We don't live locally but will go out of our way to come and visit as often as we can. So surprised to read some negative reviews. I cannot count the number of times I have eaten in the cafe and have always, always had an extremely positive experience.
We frequently come here for lunch and have always had a faultless service so surprised to read some negative reviews. We have always found the service to be extremely friendly and prompt and the food is always delicious and great value for money. A few weeks back we arrived for our usual lunch and unfortunately I shut my finger in my car door. I was in extreme pain and bleeding and came to the cafe to sit down feeling like I was about to pass out. The staff were so kind and helpful, providing exceptional first aid care and helping me regain my composure! This is our favourite local place to come for a warm and welcome lunch.
No staff and after 30 mins of nothing I asked for my money back because you have to pay in advance. They said sorry but they are understaffed. Ridiculous. Close and pull down the shutters. They clearly have no idea how to run a restaurant. Everyone was complaining. It wastes everyone’s time
I wanted to write a great review as I brought my friend here for a lovely afternoon tea and was really pleased to note from their online menu that they do a Vegan version. Unfortunately, the service was really lacking. We ordered our afternoon tea and the drinks arrived in a timely manner. The server announced, Decaf coffee? and placed the pot in front of me, put the other pot (tea) in front of my friend, and went off. On pouring my coffee, I realised that it was tea. My friend also had tea in her pot so it wasn 't a case of getting them the wrong way round. They took my pot away and came back a short while later saying they couldn 't do filter decaf so would a decaf Americano be fine? Our sandwiches and cakes arrived...I finished my sandwiches and there was still no sign of my coffee. I asked the server if it would be much longer and she said, You haven 't got your coffee yet? and rushed off. A short while later a small cup of coffee appeared. It didn 't take me long to finish it and I hadn 't even got to my scone yet...my friend had a pot so was able to have a second cup of tea. I asked if I might possibly have another cup of coffee since I didn 't have a pot and was told that I would have to pay for it. I chose not to. Bearing in mind that I was served the wrong drink initially and then had to wait for ages for the replacement, you would think a second cup wouldn 't be too much of an ask. Disappointing.
Recently moved to the area and was recommended the evergreen cafe by a friend. As it was Father’s Day thought it would be a nice place to take the kids and hubby for lunch. When we arrived the place was heaving. There were hardly any tables available and the outside area was full up. The staff were very friendly and let us know that they were short staffed and apologised for any time we had to wait as it was Father’s Day and very busy. They seemed to be rushing around a lot and looked very stressed. Nonetheless we still received a warm, kind service from the ladies who took our order and gave our food/drinks. The drinks were very nice and and food was great too. Nothing bad to say there. However was worried about the staff as one girl did look quite unwell. Seems like management needs to work on staffing situations during busy times! Would possibly come again when it’s not so busy and short staffed.
