Oriental Gardens - Thunder Bay

On Thursday, July 8th, we placed a pre-order for pickup on Friday, July 9th at 5:30 pm. The person who took our order was very polite and professional, so everything seemed to be going well. We ordered 5 dishes: BBQ pork chow mein, Bon...Bon spare ribs, sliced tender beef with broccoli, sweet and sour shrimp, and spicy Shanghai noodles. The order was ready on time, with quick service and smooth pickup. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the worst Chinese food my wife and I have ever had, and it was a disappointment for my 90-year-old parents who were looking forward to the meal when we visited them the next day. Due to Covid, we had decided to keep the elderly members of the family at home instead of going out. The BBQ chow mein was soggy and had overcooked cabbage, minimal meat, and lacked crispy vegetables except for an overwhelming amount of cauliflower. The beef with broccoli had too much broccoli, too little meat, and a thick, gloopy sauce. The sweet and sour shrimp tasted fine but had an odd, overly sweet red sauce with no tangy acidity. The Bon...Bon spare ribs were overly dark and tasted as if they had been fried in old motor oil, though they were at least tender. The Shanghai noodles were thick and not worth the high price tag of $23. We had advised my mother not to contact the restaurant to leave feedback, but she did so out of courtesy and was essentially ignored without any attempt to make things right, not that we expected much. I usually don't leave negative reviews for restaurants, but in this case, it is deserved. We spent over $100 on this disappointing meal and have no plans to return. Our recommendation is to save your money and dine elsewhere. This restaurant used to have a good reputation, but something changed for the worse.

We have been going to this Asian restaurant for over 20 years as a family. We love the welcoming atmosphere created by the owners and staff, and the food always hits the spot. We will definitely keep coming back and will be recommending this place to our friends.

I ordered takeout from this place yesterday and was extremely disappointed. The barbecued meat and broccoli were both bland and overcooked. The broccoli was mushy and the meat had a hard, tasteless texture.

Eating and services are always very good! the place is always clean, every time we go there and eat. eating is very good and the services too.

Used their delivery service, very prompt and food was still hot and delicious! Would recommend this restaurant
