Cafe La Especial - Tijuana

It is a small place where they can quickly eat diferent tacos Mexican cusine, there is not the regular meat tacos, they can find “tacos dorados”, “tacos de canasta”.

I've been a customer at La Especial since I was a 7 year old boy in 1956...when they used to be located below Revolucion Ave in an arcade. Although some items on the menu seem to have gone downhill in preparation, their tacos are still...the most amazing...a blend of finely shredded beef and potato wrapped in double corn tortillas, steamed and just slightly oily...their zahanoria are the best anywhere, and their salsa is too...all unchanged since the 50s. They add some fresh radish and green onion and it is the perfect taco. They are still owned by the same family and the service is always stellar. I cannot recommend any traditional Mexican restaurant more highly than La Especial. If you really like American versions of Mexican food, drowning in cheese, you may not like this...it is a true Mexican flavor that is quite different from the Americanized version...everyone we've ever taken agrees that La Especial is better than the best they've ever had!

Stopped by to get a hearty, inexpensive lunch for our family while we were visiting TJ for the day, and we made the right choice. The tamales are a delight. The place has a nice cozy atmosphere, and the service was really good too.

This place has been here for ever. Great local Mex. foodof all types. Not a gourmet place. of a authentic dishes. Centrally located. Good for aquick breakfast..lunch or dinner.

This restaurant is the one thing I wish I could bring back to the states. The food is incredible. They also have this bean broth that will make your heart sing. GO HERE!
