I know, because there were so many bowls in the suppe, I had to first test every bit with my tongue. concerning the hushpuppies, they were quite good, but I was a little surprised at the great pieces of mais and the dryness of the teigs (they were very crumb). it is not necessarily a bad thing, but something you have to consider when ordering. concerning the po’boy, it had quite good taste and I probably enjoyed it most. my main problem with this place is the price for what they get. a reason why I think can be because many employees work there. there were literally one or two people per table and whoever is in the kitchen. overall, the atmosphere is beautiful, but quite average eating.
Today I came to ticklers for the first time since it was renamed to Mother's Day. I was really excited. the prospects are great! but I was very disdained with eating. eating looked very good when it was served. I ordered the charalat and the stonefish. I found a big brown paper cloth in my salad and the rockfish was overcooked. the Sous-Koch came out with his apologies, but I was speechless and could not have my experience. it was very annoying because I took a few bites before I noticed. they removed the salat from the bill as they should, but nothing else was done. my grandfather ordered a chicken arsalate, the croutons were stale a d the huh was cold. you could say that it was an salate that was kept in a refrigerator overnight, sad, my man and my daughter had the cheeseburgers that were good. my grandmother had the rocks, they enjoyed it. my waiter wasn't very attentive, our table stacked itself with scurry before another waiter removed it. I wanted to dessert, but after my experience I just wanted to go. I don't think I'm here to visit again if it's not about the burgers and the beautiful ones.
Excellent eating. the choices were extensive and eating felt increased. we ate all our meals in the restaurant.
Here for my birthday. Unfortunately the impending snow storm put a slight damper on things. Enjoyed the pre dinner drinks in front of the fire. We were told weâd have to sit in the bar area since they werenât expecting too many people because of the weather. As it turned out more people arrived and were seated out in the dining room after all. The oysters were great as was the oyster stew and hushpuppies. No duck confit sliders so we opted for the substitute which was beef. They were ok. Crème brí»lée was nice. Service was satisfactory not bad but not great either. Definitely recommend for the oysters alone.
We have had a vacation home on Tilghman for 11 years. Since the Wylder has been remodeled we have not been to the restaurant. Starting with the general remodel and the understated holiday decorations let us just say; bravo. They did a fantastic job revitalizing this historic property that is so iconic here. From the refurbished floors to the understated holiday decor the whole place is had a laid back yet elegant Christmas vibe. Tilghman chic at its best! Service starting with them accommodating us with a last minute reservation for 5 on Christmas Eve; we couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming, attentive staff! They Eve took time out to help us out with a family photo. Ok the food: delicious, upscale, captures local sprit without being to bougie. We had the crab cakes of course). Meaty, well seasoned and prepared just what you’d expect from a Chesapeake restaurant. The oysters Rockefeller our starter) we plump local oysters cook just the right amount with enough “ juice” to taste the Chesapeake. 5 oysters spinach and parm were present but didn’t overwhelm the oysters. Cream of crab soup right balance of crab n cream. This fish tacos with lightly breaded and gently fried local rockfish were on point. The pickled veggies with the taco reminded us of some of the best bang mi in the DMV. The shrimp scampi with house tortellini was excellent. Garlic was present but understated enough to not overwhelm. The slightly sautéed spaghetti squash was a revaluation one which I was skeptical about when I read on menu but I was WRONG!! Delicious. The star of the show was the beef Wellington!! We never order this in dc restaurants; just seems to uk I mean who needs pastry with a delicious cut of beef? WRONG again. They don’t prepare it until you order-so you have to wait about 30 minutes. It’s worth it!!!! The pastry was light and the meat was perfect. Summary: skip St Michael’s restaurants and come enjoy this hidden gem!!
