Not only was this the best meal on our trip, it was the best meal we could remember in the past couple of years. The restaurant was surprisingly empty. We chose a nice table in the small modern dining room. The server spoke no English and the menu was in Italian so the chef came out to translate and explain the menu. But first they brought out a small sample creme brûlée apéritif to cleanse the palate. Great start! The bread was small artisan roles that were salty sweet. Also delicious. For dinner I had a coffee crusted pork tenderloin that was perfectly cooked and my wife had a chicken entree with a lovely sauce and greens that she loved. For dessert, we shared a tiramisu that was memorable. Don't hesitate because there are only a couple of reviews. (Yelp hasn't fully caught on in Italy. . If you want something delicious and different from the pasta and pizza that dominates Roma, then come here and you won't be disappointed.
Exceptional food from Italy fused with modern innovations to challenge and advance what Italian cuisine can be. Exceptional three course menus for seafood, meat or vegetarian. Great wines by the glass or bottle and gorgeous, modern interior. Run by committed family with broad experience across major European cities. At the end of our three week trip in Italy and this was easily our best dining experience. Shining amongst our extensive meal was the eggplant, the chicken, the simple pasta and the desserts. Wines are an exceptional value carefully selected by the chef.
The chef is a true artist. The presentations are imaginative; my favorite was an anchovy garnish in an open anchovy can. And the hospitality is genuine, from the amuse bouche to the complimentary dessert and sherry. So why no fifth star? It's my fault for not telling the chef, who came out to explain the menu in English, that I like my food strongly flavored. The seafood salad, cleverly presented in a Mason jar, and gnocci with langoustino were delicately flavored, much more to the taste of my wife, who liked them. The secondi was quite mild for a swordfish, and the tomato accompaniment, the strongest taste of my meal, somewhat overpowered it. But large portions, a warm welcome, and a large menu that exhibits a lot of thought and consideration all of these would lure me back again, when I will order more carefully. I can recommend Avec 55 wholeheartedly.
In the fixed dinner menu of 31 December good quality price. A plentiful, accurate and refined menu. improved service, for example wine bottles have never been opened at the table.
I recommend it for those looking for fine food: 4 service: 3 atmospheres: 3
