After 3 days in Cabo, eating mediocre food and wondering where in the world all these highly ranked restaurants must be, we left towards Cerritos and checked in to this quiet, quaint surfer colony. We happily stumbled upon FreeSouls. We are chefs from Los Angeles and had given up hope that we would find anything that would blow our minds. FreeSouls proved us wrong. Our server Sergio recommended fresh local fish that had just arrived a few minutes earlier and obviously we were on board. We also had the caprese salad with burrata cheese. The fish was the best thing we have eaten in years. Beautifully baked in the natural wood oven. It was moist, not over seasoned and melted in your mouth while accompanied with couscous and different baked vegetables. The salad was the best addition as an appetizer and we wanted much more. What blew us away is the talent, delicacy and respect the chef and staff apply to the food and flavors. Now came the dessert which we didn't expect much from because we thought there had to be a flaw somewhere . . . WRONG! A puff pastry apple pie with vanilla ice cream that was to die for! It was soft, warm, balanced in flavor and a great paring to the fish to cleanse your palate. The good problem we have is that we have to go back tonight and try other things on the menu. Worth every penny!
Absolutely loved the raspberry salad and the tuna tartar... So delicious! We went 2 days in a row and ordered the same thing. Plus, the Sergio, the waiter is fantastic, and the saltwater pool is divine. We will be back!
Just back from Cerritos Beach. Two memorable visits to this restaurant. The first we shared the baked whole Red Snapper. Huge meal for two under 350 Pesos! Last night we shared the flan. Fabulous! Great views and Sergiois a great waiter! We'll be back in the fall!
We had a nice, relaxing meal with a great view of the beach and ocean. It's a more modern scene, and the wait staff was attentive. The food was decent, too. This location takes credit cards.
I honestly was surprised by this restaurant's attention to detail in the dishes we had. Even though all the dishes we enjoyed were excellent , the highlight of the dinner was the incredibly fresh yellowfin carpaccio. The way they balanced the dish was delightful. They allowed the tuna to be the protagonist of the plate. My daughters had the lasagna and the flavors and texture of the dish, screamed fresh. Not until I asked how the dish was prepared, it all made sense to me why the dish was so good. The lasagna was prepared to order and then baked on their wonderful brick oven powered by a medley of different firewood!!! The staff was very charming and informative. The decor of the place was very aesthetically pleasing. They as well had an infinity pool that the patrons could use. They even had clean towels to use! As I mentioned before, the attention to detail was great. I highly recommend Freesouls if you want to eat good in a very nice setting.
