Had a stop at a Sat evening at 5:00 and could get a table within a few minutes. Decorated on their onion rings, fried mushrooms, bacon cheeseburger (normal size!... not the Mel or Mega-Mel) and the Monte Christo. The food is always hot, crispy and not greasy. The hostess and wait staff are super friendly and even tho the waiting staff go what seems like a million miles an hour.. You still care about you! The only Ni-Pick on our meal this time, was with the Monte Christo... they needed to melt the cheese in a sandwich before roasting! This sandwich must be warm inside when you bite, not cool.
We showed up on a busy Saturday lunch and could get a table for 4 within minutes. The food was great. The chicken steak was epic and delicious. The smaller size was still much big. The chicken steak fingers were also delicious. I tried the chicken aguacat. It had Cajun spices, avocado, pico de gallo and cheese. All right! The maize bread was also great, a little sweet. The service was also good. We would highly recommend this place!
I saw Mels on the Texas Bucket list show and thought I would try. When I moved up, I thought I had arrived in another restaurant because this isn't the most beautiful place, but I was wrong. Everything is bigger and better in Texas and these burgers are nothing less amazing. Which route you decide to go to Mels menu, you will not be disappointed. Every local Texan must visit this place immediately!
Mel's Burger is a monster. I'm glad I don't have any pommes. I couldn't have touched her. The burger was two meals in one. It was so good. Have a grilled chicken salad and the grilled Wels Shrimp for the others and it looked so good. My food was ready as soon as I get there. No problem. For a few years drive and decided that today will be the day. Drove 40 miles to pick up food since I visited friends in Magnolia. It's worth the ride.
Immediately greeted by the hostesses and seated. We had no wait. During the week, the best time to visit is after the lunch crowd has left, typically around 1:30pm. We did not order an appetizer. My wife ordered the chicken fried chicken with fried okra, green beans and cream gravy. I ordered the fried catfish, shrimp, tater tots and coleslaw. For desert, we ordered the banana pudding which is big enough for two people. You should visit Mel's. You will it !!!
