Despite its strong garlic aroma from the name and appearance of the restaurant, the soup is actually elegant in taste. Today, I ordered the Chuka-don for 700 yen and the Stamina Garlic Soup for 450 yen. The soup, served in a gratin dish, simmered and bubbled. I smashed the egg and took a sip. There was no strong garlic flavor, just a gentle taste. The sliced garlic was well cooked, bringing out a refined Japanese flavor. The fact that the soup alone costs 450 yen indicates that there must be effort put into the broth, but it's hard to tell. The Chuka-don is a classic dish from a traditional Teishoku restaurant. A sprinkle of vinegar and the combination with the Garlic Soup made it delicious. I left wondering about the secret behind the soup's mix, but overall, it was a great meal.
I was intrigued by the reviews and photos of the sprinkles on the set meals at this restaurant, so I decided to come in. I couldn't decide between the meat and vegetable stir-fry or the pork ginger stir-fry, but as I was contemplating, I saw someone at another table ordering ramen and Cantonese noodles... That got me curious about the ramen as well. Ultimately, I started with the fried rice, which was delicious! The seasoning and texture were just to my liking. Next, the ramen arrived. I was worried it might be too salty because the broth looked rich, but it was also delicious! It was a simple type with thin noodles, bamboo shoots, char siu, and finely chopped green onions. I was so impressed that I was caught off guard when the pork ginger stir-fry set arrived. I thought the portion was a bit small, but the flavor was strong with a soy sauce seasoning and three large pieces of meat. Oh, and the fatty part was so tender and tasty! However, I deducted a point for the small portion size.
It feels like a local diner in town. It was delicious!!
