Purchased lamb chops at lunchtime on a Sunday which I stored in my fridge, I opened my fridge 4 hours later to the most offensive stench which turned out to be the lamb the smell was retching the lamb was clearly ‘off’ so no Sunday dinner for us. Returned to the farm shop the next day to be told the smell was due to being vacuum packed (it wasn’t vacuum packed) the butcher proceed to smell every chop individually by putting it literally on his nose and snorting (believe me this was neither a pretty sight or necessary) my car stunk of rotten meat in the short 5 minute drive to the farm shop). I was told they ‘would do their own tests to clarify IF the meat was off’ again the colour of the meat and the stench was evidently sufficient. I was offered no ‘good will gesture’ at both the inconvenience, poor quality meat and having no Sunday dinner I was offered a replacement which I declined and requested a refund which I was given to the penny. We will not be returning which is a shame as we live locally but this is not the first time we have had a poor/bad experience from the butchers department. Poor quality meat and customer service guys!!
The scones were nice but overpriced. The coffee was awful. The decor is dated. The staff were friendly. With soo many places to eat in Brixham offering better value and better quality food I wouldn’t visit again.
This cafe is now called Home Farm Kitchen. Visited whilst car being valeted. Simple order of cake, scone, ice cream and 2 coffees.... Sent coffees back......supposed to be Flat White, but coffee was barely tepid. Replaced but equally tepid. Definitely not a flat white, it was just cold milky coffee...... Banana cake was OK and so was the cheese scone Ice cream was not eaten by little one due to the hard balls sprinkled over the top, we tried them and you could break your teeth on them. Not ideal at all
Popped in to the butcher's for some beautifully aged steak one day when passing and noticed there was a car wash/valet and cafe on the premises too! So I've since been back to cleanse the back seat of my wet dog whilst having an all day breakfast (superb apart from only slightly runny egg yolks), popping into the farm shop for more butchers delights and finishing off with a coffee before picking up a clean car! Multitasking at its most pleasant and rewarding
