The staff were really friendly and the food was excellent I have never seen such large asparagus stalks! The wine we had, which was the waiter's choice, was delicious. The restaurant was clean and tidy.
Loved, loved it. Out of the pouring rain into a restaurant staffed by very friendly people. Clearly a place for locals, I think they were surprised to see a family of tourists turn up. But boy did they make sure we enjoyed it. From the complementary proseco to, thankfully at last, a short seasonal menu and no wine list! Instead the waiter asked what type of wine we wanted and he spouted forth his recommendations and price. This place deserves more recognition to anyone visiting Turin and staying near the train station (Porto Susa)
We were four persons on Saturday night and we ordered three items that cost 14 euro, one 16 euro, a side dish that costs 3 euro and vine and desert. When we received the bill it was 3 dishes of 16 euro and one 14 euro. You would have thought that it was a honest mistake, but the side dish was 5 euro. So instead of 85 euro we got a bill for 91 euro. When we told the host he got angry and told us to pay only 80. Not only he didn't admit the error but also insulted us. The food was fair, not great, nothing to write home about, and we left with a bad feeling.
We, a group of six, 4 of whom spoke absolutely no Italian had an overnight in Torino staying near the Porta Susa station. We had been traveling from Rome, through Florence and on to Paris and I really only made this reservation because of the proximity to where we were staying. We were all so pleasantly surprised. Of course we were the first to come to the restaurant at 19:00 because, well, we are Americans after all! The man who greeted us from behind the bar (who is a business partner with the Chef) showed us to a table and brought us a nice glass of prosecco as an aperitif. Although the menu was in Italian, he skillfully and patiently went over each item on the menu for my parents and friends. Moreover he showed us some fresh mushrooms they were serving that night and we chose to take some fried up as one of our appetizers. The food though, was a highlight. Everyone truly enjoyed their meals from appetizer to dessert. The prices were reasonable, we enjoyed a nice limoncello after dinner. If you are staying in the area, I would highly recommend a nice meal here. The service was truly gracious, warm, and accommodating.
Our bed and breakfast near here recommended this place to us last Monday. We were there on a Monday night, so it was quiet. The owner offered us a prosecco when we were seated. We shared an excellent dish of gnocchi in pecorino cheese sauce followed by salmon with grilled vegetables. The wine list was reasonably priced. When we paid our bill, we had a limoncello with the owner. This is part of the appeal of Torino to us is all of the good reasonably priced restaurants.
