Our table shared the Fiorentina (porterhouse) and the ravioli, gnocchi and tagliatelle alongside some savoury sides. Everything was excellent. We enjoyed an intimate evening with friends, in the cozy restaurant, after a good cocktail at the attached bar. Great location.
A group of of us ate here for New Years Eve. Me and my partner eat out a lot in Toronto and I was really excited to try somewhere new. Things started off well, the first few of us to arrive ordered cocktails from...the bar tender(which were very good). The issues started when one of our guests asked for a wine recommendation, the wine list was very pricy with the majority of bottles around the mark. She had asked for a recommendation of a bottle of red around the mark. The server became rude and said she would have to go and get her manager if that was the price range we wanted, she did not come back. Another server came over and asked to take food orders and it went downhill from here. This server was very pushy during the entire meal, I understand it was New Year’s Eve but we were given a time limit on the table and due to the meal being so rushed even with three courses we were out the door a good half an hour before the time slot was up. We explained about the wine and they were also very unhelpful, we chose some bottles ourselves and placed the orders. We had a number of different servers during the evening, all of which were rude and did not seem to know much about either the food or drink menus. First the starters came, we had ordered the fried fish starter. Although the portion size was large the calamari was overdone and chewy which was very disappointing. Then onto the mains. Me and my partner had ordered two pasta dishes to share- the sausage tagliatelle and the lobster gnocchi. The tagliatelle was actually excellent and we sent our compliments to the chef, but the gnocchi was terrible. It was so overdone it was like mash potato. After trying a few bites and realizing we grabbed the attention of a server and explained, she rudely told us that it was supposed to be like that and walked off. I was quite shocked. She then came back and cleared the uneaten meal without any further comments. As a group of we had been careful when ordering to ensure the server knew who was having what, when it came for time to settle us as usual we asked for split bills. They (again quite rudely) told us they would only be giving us one itemized bill and then we could split it ourselves. At this point we’d had enough and one of us just settled up so we could leave and continue on our evening somewhere with a better vibe. Overall the service was terrible, some of the worst I’ve had in Toronto, and the food definitely was not good enough for the price point. There are so many excellent Italian restaurants within walking distance of this one of Queen St West I would highly recommend you try somewhere else.
We went for my birthday with friends and we were disappointed with not only the food but mainly the service. We had a bill and the server refused to split it in half for us and also was quite rude in general. The food...was not worth the money and truly we would go many other places close by for a good Italian. All and all not somewhere I would not recommend.
Upon hearing good reviews from colleagues we decided to try this restaurant during summerlious. Initially we were seated at the front of the restaurant and the noise level was so incredible loud that we asked to be seated elsewhere which they accommodated. Upon being seated...three ladies beside us commented that they too asked to be moved due to the noise our table was small but intimate and a lot less noisy. We had ordered our bottle of wine and food already from our previous seating and mentioned this to the waitstaff that we had already ordered honestly it was about minutes before we received our bottle of wine and then another minutes before our added appetizer which was not part of summerlious. The added order was the cheese tray which was very good which we both agreed they also tasked us if we wanted some bread with our meal wow for the grilled bread and for the cheese tray. We ordered from the summerlious menu the shrimp appetizer which was fairly good and the rock fish was also ok (small portions and no added extras but was fairly good) the desert we ordered was the cheese cake which was ricotta cheese and not too bad. Unfortunately tHe service was totally frantic which did not add to the ambiance of romantic dinner we could not believe the bustle and hurriedly staff running around definitely not enough staff. Finally we asked for our bill and upon reviewing we were charged more than twice the amount for the wine we ordered. We called the staff over to correct and was told they would of picked this up and refunded us at the end of the night (right). Our bill was adjusted. All in all even with the summerlious menu our bill was over dollars for a mediocre meal I really was so disappointed as I heard good reviews in the past. Sadly the objective of summerlious is to get people to try new restaurants so they will come back again We will not be back nor recommend this restaurant as there are way too many restaurants in Toronto that offer better food for a more reasonable price. Out of I would rate where’s my husband a
