Budapest Restaurant - Toronto

We celebrated my son's engagement party at the back side of the room. Food was amazing. They give us a very reasonable price with the amount of food they serve for the buffet.

We were looking forward to the food we had in Budapest, but this was a pale imitation. The Cabbage Roll on a bed of sauerkraut was cold, had no flavor other than overwhelming sauerkraut juices, no taste of paprika or spices, and seemed previously frozen. The Goulash Soup was ok though a thin broth rather than what we’ve enjoyed many times before. The Pork Paprikas was decent, just meat and dumplings, ok. The service was decent, tho no sense of being European. Perhaps our expectations were too high as we’ve been very fortunate in our travels.

Food is no longer delicious Hungarian food that we have enjoyed for several years. Schnitzel overcooked. Other dishes bear no resemblance to Hungarian cuisine. Very sad.

Don't be fooled by the address at the top of the page: the Budapest is now at 2183 Danforth. The Hunter schnitzel I had was very good; so was the apple strudel. The service is friendly and highly competent. Will definitely be back to try some of theit other mains.

Great service, good atmosphere But the best is the food ! We have been here several times. You can seat outside or inside. Sundays have live music!
