I have been eager to try out Fat City Blues ever since it opened, and last night I was finally able to visit.
This restaurant was closed on Saturday night (June 22) at 7 o'clock. Don't bother trying to go there, as it was not open. Don't waste your time.
Had fun at this great little New Orleans bar. Friendly staff. Awesome band - Fraser Melvin blues band on a sunday night . They look so young but sound so tight and smooth. Check them out. UNfortunately we had just eaten elsewhere so didn't get to try the food but the menu looked interesting with some New Orleans dishes .
First of all, the greeting by the hostess was very pleasant. That is always a good indicator of what is to come next.Poor girl was stuck in the foyer, which could be hell on a cold night. You know the game: Leave your name and number and we will call youwhen we can let you in. Being a pleasant evening we took a stroll and popped in a Portuguesecafe for a coffee. As we were leaving the cafe, the phone rang and we headed over for "standing room only".Paid our $5 cover, and headed straight to the bar. A busy place and not a lot of room, so expect to be jostled by servers makingtheir way to the tables. Our Bartender provided excellent service. As for the artist who was performing, she was ok, but unfortunately had to competewith an overzealous bass player, and drummer, who looked acted like he might be pertty high and played with intent. It is not a big venue, so playing loudly was not neccessary.Would like to come back, perhaps try the food, and get a table another time.
