Perfect for a late-night bite. I really enjoy the pulled pork and coleslaw with fries. Make sure to request the fries extra crispy when you order.
The food at this restaurant is of decent quality considering the price. While it may not be amazing, it is a good option for BBQ in Toronto in terms of value and portion size. I visited during a quiet period so the food wasn't very hot, but the flavors were still enjoyable. A platter and a couple of drinks for two people cost around $30, which is reasonable. However, I would not recommend the LD house beer as it tasted like watered-down beer. It's better to choose something else if you want a better quality drink. Overall, you get what you pay for at this establishment.
Decent Sammie. Just across from Ryerson University, I’m not sure if Lou Dawg’s is more of a pub or more of a restaurant. I stopped in for a sandwich. It was pretty busy this Thursday evening but I found a stool and settled in. By the time I left the crowd had thinned out and was more like a restaurant, but they are open very late and could turn into more of a pub meeting place again.<br <br It is a fairly small place with some tables outside in the back. They also have a little stage for some live entertainment.<br <br As for my Pulled Pork Sandwich, it was decent. I thought it was a little dry, the BBQ sauce having been added before it was delivered. The pork was nice and tender, it just need more flavorful and more sauce, and maybe a different bun.<br <br Service? Top notch.
Chef Sean Smith from Lou Dawg’s in Toronto has sent us his recipe for their Perfect Patio Coleslaw, pictured above with their famous ribs.<br/ <br/ You can try out the coleslaw in person at their 5th Anniversary Bash on Thursday April 17th. There will be live music and free pulled pork poutine for all from noon to midnight.
