Mattachioni - Toronto

With a family group. the atmosphere is busy and friendly, and the service really good. The thin crust pizza was really nice, I can't say it was one of the best I ever had, but it was good. the kaprese was beautiful....Overall, I would say a bit expensive for what it casual Italian / pizza place.

I went with my family today for the first time and despite the great environment and eating good I think they really need to improve the service. I went with my man and two years old daughter. first I had no reservation and I was told that it could take some time (20 min) and I said ok and waited. While we seem to wait for it, there were some people who had made a reservation and later showed up so that they got the table and we continued to wait without explanation. a spot was made available on the balcony and we were not offered so a few that came after we were first discovered. I went to the waitress to understand what happened, and the answer that I got was that they could have a balcony reservation 1. of everything I know they didn't have because the dame came to me and asked me if I wanted this place because they saw my big bauch (39 wow pregnant.) I guess she felt bad! How does the waitress come, don't even know what happens? so we waited more than the expected waiting time. but we couldn't leave without eating. we have starved! after almost an hour waiting without any explanation we had to sit on a table. during the order I was busy with my daughter who really needed to eat (it was already 9 o'clock) so I asked if she could please bring a few airplanes brot instantly and the waitress said yes. and we waited for more than 15 minutes on this brot. she looked like she forgot! finally came the brot and my daughter ate! when the food came (over 30 min) we ate and it was amazing the only problem that one of the pizzas was really over boiled to a point where we could even cut. but I was already there because I just wanted to eat and go. I will return to this place next time with a reservation. because I think eating is amazing! the service is terrible! there were two waitresses who looked really lost. they had dishes in the balcony and were not attentive to customers. very bad customer service! also eating takes too long to get to the table. if they are not able to manage, they should take into account that at least during the busy times have an additional staff!

I originally went to agriturismo tavern, but they had no salate I needed. but the server recommended mattachioni where the salads are great, but the pizza is excellent. I had the buffalo cheese with basilikum and the crust was omg, the best I ever had. the right thick, the right amount of olive oil on the top crust and delicious homemade sauce and buffalo cheese and basilikum. as I write, I think going back today, just to make sure that it was not an illusion and if the resistance can be supported.

Wonderful mushroom rapini salad. The dressing was very nice. Pizza was also very nice crust. Husband and I shared this and really enjoyed both. Fresh and delicious!

My family and I love this restaurant, it is truly a gem in our little neighbourhood. There is something for everyone on the menu, and everything is super fresh the bulk of items being made on site. They serve fresh Italian pizzas, some really...lovely and interesting salads, hearty homemade soups, and their sandwiches are the bomb (also a perfect hangover cure! The service has always been great for me, my family and I visit with two small kids and they are always accommodating. A little secret is that they also make their own in house freshly baked sourdough daily, and it is better than a lot of the renowned bread in Toronto (definitely competes with Prairie Boy and Blackbird, trust me! but no one knows about it and they don't really showcase it and they should! For me, returning to a restaurant means it has succeeded in 3 key areas: quality, consistency and atmosphere, and Mattachioni has it all. The menu has lots of options that are fresh, flavourful, consistent and well priced and the restaurant has a warm and very casual feel that keeps me coming back; in fact we go every Sunday now. I hope they are here to stay in the neighbourhood!
